I Haven't Studied for a Long Time - Am I Capable?

The Certificate III course is an introductory level qualification that requires the student to read and understand the course materials, reflect upon them and then apply them in their own work environment. It is a very practical course that does not require strong research skills or the ability to write lengthy essays. Provided you can read and understand the materials and relate them to your childcare work, this course will be well within your capabilities.

Continual assessment is used throughout, so there is no final exam. You submit work for assessment as you complete it, receiving detailed feedback from the trainer. There is no Pass or Fail - work is assessed as either "Competent" or "Not yet competent". If "Not yet competent" you are given guidance on how to improve and re-submit until the level of "Competent" is reached.

The Diploma course operates on a similar basis to the above, but is significantly more challenging. In particular, it assumes a knowledge of how a nursery operates overall, so is best suited to somebody who has worked in childcare for a few years (or brings management experience with them from a different industry).

Is My Level of English Adequate?

For the Certificate III course, the student must have sufficient English to read and understand the course materials.

The requirement for the Diploma is higher, as the student must also be able to express themselves accurately and concisely in written and spoken English.

How Long Will It Take?

Courses are delivered by distance learning and are completely self-paced - the more time you have to study, the quicker you will finish. Students typically take 6 - 8 months to complete but the actual figure varies significantly.

Your registration with International Childcare College is valid for 12 months only. If you do not complete the course within this time you will have to pay to re-register.

Can I Jump Straight to the Diploma?

You cannot start the Diploma without first completing the Cerificate III, or recognised alternative (such as the UK CACHE 3).

Students who think they may be eligible to go straight to the Diploma should contact us in the first instance. We will need to see copies of your existing qualification, including a transcript detailing the contents of the course.

My Password Doesn't Work

If you are unable to log in to download the course materials, try the following:

  1. Check you are logging in at the correct website address - www.childcarecollege.com.au. Course materials are downloaded from the International Childcare College website , not the Eduserve website.
  2. Check you are using the correct username and password. These were emailed to you from childcarecollege.com.au soon after you first registered (although you may have changed tem since)
  3. You can request a new password yourself from the International Childcare College website by:
    - going to my.childcarecollege.com.au
    - clicking the 'Lost password?' link in the login area at top right
    - entering either your username or your email address (must be the same email address you previously registered with) and pressing the 'Search' button. The site then sends you a confirmation email - after clicking the confirmation link in this email the site sends you a second email with your new password.
  4. If you are still having problems, please contact us.

Are These Qualifications Recognised?

All qualifications are issued in Australia by the International Childcare College. They are a Registered Training Organisation (so are subject to audit for compliance with Australian quality assurance standards) and the certificates they issue comply with the national Australian Qulifications Framework. There is no practical difference between the distance qualification and the same qualification obtained by attending a college in Australia.

For students working in the Gulf, recognition of overseas qualifications is always at the discretion of the host country (and can change). Our experience to date has always been that these qualifications have been accepted.

Do You Offer the First Aid Course?

You must hold a current First Aid Certificate at the time the certificate/diploma is issued, and this must cover childhood asthma and anaphylaxis management. The course can be taken at any time, as long as it remains valid at the time you finish your course.

We do not run first aid courses, although they are widely available as a one-day course, Before commiting to a course, please ensure the organisors will issue you a certificate on completion that meets the above criteria.
